Cabrini Maiya TateJunior Maiya Tate’s short story was one of 10 stories selected for publication in a new chapbook published by 13Thirty. Maiya heard about the contest through the New Orleans Public Library and created an intrigue story about how a girl named Sydney traps her childhood friend Keegan in a voodoo enchanted mirror. High school students in the New Orleans area were able to submit stories for the contest. The book will be sold at Garden District Books in conjunction with Bouchercon – World Mystery Convention ( which will be held in New Orleans from September 15-18, 2016. Maiya retains the rights to her story, and she will be awarded two copies of the chapbook along with a $50 gift card at a banquet held at the New Orleans Marriot on Thursday, September 15, 2016.
