Cabrini Junior Achievement PresentationAs part of the Junior Achievement’s “Trust Your Crazy Ideas” Challenge, students in Ms. Holtgreve’s Economics class and Mr. Distler’s World History class welcomed entrepreneur Karlie Hull to Cabrini High last week. Ms. Hull described her success in starting her own IT business and what it took to attain that success. Her presentation was part of a program that is sponsored by Junior Achievement, The Brees Dream Foundation, and The Idea Village.

The goal of the program is to educate and inspire students to trust their ideas and learn strategies to bring them to fruition. Students work in teams to create a product or service that they will produce and potentially market to the public. After Ms. Hull’s presentation, our Cabrini students worked through the first stage of the program, by completing assigned work in the program’s workbook.

Though Cabrini’s participation will be limited to Juniors and Seniors, citywide it is available to students in grades 8th through 12th. This partnership with the Brees Dream Foundation and The Idea Village is a redesign of Junior Achievement programs in place before Hurricane Katrina. This is the second year the new program has been offered.

"The girls are very excited," Paige Holtgreve said, "And I am really looking forward to seeing what they come up with."
