Amy Allende, a math teacher at Cabrini High School, was recently selected as a Claes Nobel Educator of Distinction by The National Society of High School Scholars (NSHSS).
A math teacher for 26 years, four years at Cabrini, Allende was nominated for this recognition by one of her students, junior Jaimyn Johnson for her outstanding dedication and commitment to excellence in teaching.
“I felt very honored to receive this award, and was so touched and humbled to know Jaimyn was the student that nominated me.” said Allende upon the honor. “She is such a kind soul and a very dedicated and hardworking student. She is genuinely a joy to teach.”
According to the NSHSS, every year student members of NSHSS are invited to nominate an educator who has made the most significant contribution to their academic career for the Claes Nobel Educator of Distinction award. This honor recognizes exemplary educators whose passion and devotion inspire their students to grow and develop as scholars, leaders, and citizens.
Regarding the news, Cabrini’s Principal Yvonne Hrapmann said, “Amy is a humble and hardworking educator who always has her students’ best interest at heart. There is no doubt from her students that she has high expectations and provides the encouragement and support to reach their best potential.”
