Physical Education 8 is designed to increase the student’s awareness of competitive, recreational, and leisure activities which include individual and team sports. This course also educates the student about the lifetime benefits and importance of daily physical fitness through participation in daily fitness workouts and activities.
Health Education is a required comprehensive course which provides the student with basic knowledge and skills which promote health and wellness. Units presented include social and emotional health, decision-making, disease prevention, nutrition, substance abuse, and the American Red Cross First Aid/CPR certification course. Throughout the course, an emphasis is placed on preventative health care and making responsible choices which lead to a healthy lifestyle.
This course is designed to increase the student’s awareness of the importance of physical activity and physical fitness to overall health and wellness. Students will participate in a variety of movement activities, fitness workouts, and individual and team games and activities.
Physical Education II is designed to increase the student's awareness of recreational and competitive activities through participation in the following team sports and their lead-up games: Volleyball, Football, Cabbageball. This course also educates the student about the lifetime benefits and importance of physical fitness through participation in daily fitness workouts and the FitnessGram Health-Related Fitness program.
Physical Education IIB is designed to increase the student's awareness of recreational and competitive activities which all use rackets, paddles, and nets. The student will participate in the following sports and their lead-up games: Ping Pong, Badminton, Pickleball (modified terms game), Tennis (if scheduling allows, *student fee). This course also educates the student about the lifetime benefits and importance of physical fitness through participation in daily fitness workouts and the FitnessGram Health-Related Fitness program.
Physical Education IIIA is designed to introduce the student to a variety of outdoor activities that can be used throughout their lifetime for competitive, recreational, and leisure use. The student will participate in the following activities: Boating (Canoeing/Pedal Boat/Kayaks, (*student fees), Fishing, Golf (*student fee). This course also educates the student about the lifetime benefits and importance of physical fitness through participation in daily fitness workouts and the FitnessGram Health-Related Fitness program.
Physical Education IIIB is designed for the student who is seriously interested in advancing her fitness level through a variety of activities including daily distance jogging, interval training, strength/weight training, flexibility and body fat monitoring. Students will participate daily in strength training and jogging in order to participate in a 5K/10K community run (*student paid fee), at the end of the semester. This course also educates the student about the lifetime benefits and importance of physical fitness through participation in daily fitness workouts and the FitnessGram Health-Related Fitness program.
