Physical Education 8 and 9 are designed to increase the student’s awareness of competitive, recreational, and leisure activities which include individual and team sports. These courses also educate the student about the lifetime benefits and importance of daily physical fitness through participation in daily fitness workouts and activities.
Health Education is a required comprehensive course which provides the student with basic knowledge and skills which promote health and wellness. Units presented include social and emotional health, decision-making, disease prevention, nutrition, substance abuse, and CPR/First Aid instruction. Throughout the course, an emphasis is placed on preventative health care and making responsible choices which lead to a healthy lifestyle.
This course is designed to increase the student’s awareness of the importance of physical activity and physical fitness to overall health and wellness. Students will participate in various movement activities, fitness workouts, and individual and team games and activities.
Physical Education II is designed to increase the student's awareness of recreational and competitive activities through participation in the following team sports and their lead-up games: Volleyball, Ultimate Football, Cabbageball and Pickleball. This course also educates the student about the lifetime benefits and importance of physical fitness through participation in daily fitness workouts and the pacer test.
Physical Education III/A is designed to introduce the student to a variety of outdoor activities that can be used throughout their lifetime for competitive, recreational, and leisure use. The student will participate in the following activities: Archery, Biking, Boating (Canoeing/Pedal Boat/Kayaking), Fishing and Golfing. This course also educates the student about the lifetime benefits and importance of physical fitness through participation in fun Lifetime activities.
Class fee per semester: $50.00This course provides the student an opportunity to take part in individualized strength and conditioning activities specific to their chosen sport(s) and season. Such activities will include resistance training, plyometrics, speed, agility and power training methods. This course will also educate students in other areas that will support performance such as nutrition and sport psychology.
